1:40 PM Pont du Gard
Pont du Gard is a huge aqueduct between Avignon and Nimes built by the Romans. I could have gone directly to Arles but cycled an extra thirty or so kilometers to see this. I think it's worth it; it's a rather exceptional structure. I would have no idea how to build something like this, and the Romans did it two thousand years ago. Reminds of of Life of Brian.
It's getting a little late but Arles isn't far (I think). Just checked, and it looks to be far less than forty kilometers. That's two hours of easy riding, and hopefully I'll get some payback for the headwind I had this morning.
I can't wait to get home (and even first Amsterdam) to share my stories and photos. I looked through my camera last night, and the Col de la Croix de Fer is my favorite. I look very happy. (I don't have a picture of myself at Col du Mollard, or I would look angry).
It's cooled a bit so I'm going to hit the road. Let's hope my bike doesn't fall apart.
